So you would think that it gets quiet around our offices after Orange. But that’s not the case at all. All of the projects that were put on hold are back in full swing, and the follow up to Orange is quite an undertaking as well. The client service team is taking phone calls and returning emails about all kinds of things (some of the questions are pretty funny….we should blog about those one day!)….the event team is working through expense forms and setting up debrief meetings….the marketing team is reviewing what worked and what didn’t work for 2010. And in the middle of it all, Lanny showed up yesterday. I grabbed my camera and asked him to tell you guys what his favorite moment was from Orange 2010. Here you go….

We’re back! Last week was a whirlwind, and if you weren’t at Orange, then hopefully you were able to join us via the Information Highway and watch the live stream! We’ll be posting some updates, stories, and videos from Orange 2010 over the next couple of weeks. Then we’ll be making some changes around here to MakingOfOrange.com. So keep us on your blogroll!

First up….a glimpse at the winners of the “Smack Down” bowling tournament for all of the student leaders and pastors. This was a great networking opportunity for those participating, and the winning team was actually made up of individuals who met for the first time at the conference! What a collision!

More set up fun around the offices and warehouse today. Here’s another glimpse into our teams at work:

	This is Megan. She is the maker of each name badge you’ll see at Orange. This is her in the process of printing over 4,000 individual name badges!
	So we thought that the orange dog was a big deal…..but Lauren seems to have gone one step further and painted HERSELF orange! Looks like some prop painting went a little askew!
	Here is our first fully packed truck ready to make the trek over to Gwinnett Arena! This is all of our IT equipment – computers, printers, etc. – that you’ll see at registration, check in for each breakout and the four resource centers. And they all got loaded up in the rain!
	We have a lot of stuff! Each year we end up renting a third warehouse for staging all of the pallets that go to the event venue. This is also where all of the additional receiving shipments land. It’s A LOT of stuff! I’m not sure what the leaf blower is doing in the mix, though….

Here is the official bracket for the Smack Down bowling tournament coming up during Orange next week.

Scoring will be the average score for each team: score of all bowlers on the team divided by the number of bowlers.

Round 1: 4 teams (randomly selected) will compete against each other with the winner moving on to round 2.

Round 2: 2 teams (winners from previous round) will compete with the winner moving on to the finals. (Bracket 1 vs. Bracket 2 and Bracket 3 vs. Bracket 4)

Round 3: Remaining 2 teams will compete against each other to determine the winner.

The winning team members will receive a Heather Grey XP3 (Wonder, Discovery Passion) t-shirt and the church will receive a $100 credit for XP3 video downloads!!!

Round 1 will begin at 7p.m. so you need to be there as quickly after the last session as possible. You will be able to bowl a few frames as a warm up but not a full game (sorry, time restrictions). Bowling is free for our Smack Down participants but please keep in mind that all food and drink are on your own. Also, just a heads up… because Dave and Buster’s is technically a bar, you may need your ID to get in so please make sure everyone on your team has their ID with them.

Things are C-R-A-Z-Y around here right now. Here is a quick glimpse of some of the happenings among our team today:

	Jon takes a break….creativity is exhausting!
	Kelly is REALLY orange….like, maybe, too much.
	John Saddington and Jared Herd working on the live stream from backstage. “Working” may be a stretch.
	Working on transporting all kinds of goodies without any of the treats inside melting.
	Not sure why Colette has a spear and a loin cloth?
	Had a site visit to the arena today. It will look MUCH different one week from today.
	Our staff is incredible. Here is one of our editors pitching in to fold t-shirts.
	Desks are a little messy these days. Just a little…
	We got a new “toy” today….it will make the next few days lots and lots easier.

Chaos is a good word to describe all of our worlds right now among the Orange team. Our office is SUPER busy with ideas, preparations, deliveries, decisions, and all the other fun stuff that comes along with putting on an international event for over 4,000 leaders.

Today marked the beginning of the rehearsals for our vocalists that will be leading you all during the main sessions at Orange. Because we have video shoots and planning meetings going on in most of the prime space, these guys got stuck in the room that we affectionately refer to as “The Fishbowl.”

You can tell us after the conference if this set up helped or hindered their rehearsals….

April 8, 2010 – Details for the Smack Down

If you’ve seen any of our high quality videos (here and here) promoting the student ministry networking event on April 29, then you know that there is going to be some involvement of pins, strikes (hopefully), and edgy bowling shoes. We would love for you all to participate in this part of the networking event, so here are the details:

MOST IMPORTANTLY…there will be a prize for each person and each church participating on the winning team. Each person will win a heather-gray version of super-duper popular “Wonder, Discover, Passion / XP3″ t-shirt modeled above. And if that’s not enough, each church represented on the winning team will receive a $100 credit to the reThink store to be used for video downloads for the XP3 Student curriculum. Booya!

NEXT MOST IMPORTANTLY…
** Tournament will be bracket style with two or three rounds (depending on the number of teams that sign up).

** Teams will advance to the next round based on the average score of all team members from the previous round (Sum of individual scores / Number of team members).

** Teams must be 4-6 people, and they may be made up of people from more than one church or organization.

** Tournament participation is free. However, you are highly encouraged to invest in team bowling shirts as well as recording your best smack talking attempt and sending to our team members for a little public blog posting.

To enter your team, here’s what you’ll need to do…

1) Find a team (this is a good place to start).
2) Before April 20, send your team name, team captains’ name and email address, and names of the individuals on your team to Kristie McCollister at kmccolister (at) rethinkgroup (dot) org.
3) Get ready…
